Resilience is a Choice: One Year at Ramboll

Today, I’m celebrating my first full year at Ramboll!

For over a decade, my life was defined by the green screen. As a broadcast meteorologist, I spent hours tracking every micro-wiggle in the jet stream. It was a relentless grind of 2:00 AM alarms, midnight clock-outs, and breaking news adrenaline that left me vibrating long after the cameras cut to black. In local news, the atmosphere doesn’t care about your sleep cycle; if the radar lights up, your life stops.

The Real Win: Reclaiming the Moments

The greatest promotion this year has been the ability to actually live my life. Professional stability has allowed me to show up for what matters most:

  • The Sideline & Classroom: I haven’t just made a few games, I’ve made every single football, basketball, baseball, and soccer practice. Stepping into the ‘Room Mom’ role has allowed me to be present for the small moments that a news schedule once made impossible.
  • The Grounding: More travel to see family, long walks with my Boxers, and finally making the yoga classes that keep me balanced.

Projects That Move the Needle

Transitioning to an Air and Climate Consultant has been a total gear-shift. I’m no longer staring at a 10-day forecast; I’m looking at the next 50 years of our physical reality. At Ramboll, I get to:

  • Bridge the Gap: Translate atmospheric chaos into boardroom-ready roadmaps for laws like California’s SB 261, the incoming New York’s S3697, and complex international climate risk portfolios.
  • Stress-Test the Unpredictable: Use tools like HazAtlas to show global companies that “bad luck” with weather is actually a predictable data point they can engineer against.
  • Expand the Science: Challenge myself daily by mastering air dispersion models and consulting frameworks that turn abstract science into actionable, compliant solutions.
  • Build the Calm: Helping clients re-center their business plans so that when the sirens squall, the lights stay on.

Resilience is a Choice

People ask if I miss the “fame” of being the local weather woman. My answer? Not for a second.

Rooted in Nordic values, Ramboll offers a refreshing lack of ego and a deep commitment to the collective good. Sustainability isn’t a buzzword here; it’s the mechanical heart of our work. I’ve traded sensationalism for solutions.

You can be reactive to the storms, or you can build a foundation that stands firm. I’m incredibly grateful for my brilliant colleagues and the chance to help our clients navigate this pivot in climate disclosure.

In business, as in the atmosphere, the most painful heartaches are the ones we saw coming but chose to ignore. I’m glad I didn’t ignore the signal that it was time for a change.

As I look ahead to Year Two, I’m reminded of a truth we often forget when we’re chasing the storm: You cannot pour from an empty cup.

No deadline, no broadcast, and no professional milestone is as vital as the rhythm of your own breath, the health of your mind, and the warmth of the people waiting for you at home.

The most sustainable thing you can ever build is a life where you are actually present to live it. May we all find the courage to step off the mat of busy and into the space of being.

Here’s to making the unpredictable, predictable… and the meaningful, mandatory.

The needle is moving, but we are the ones holding the map. Stay curious, stay calibrated, and let’s find true north together.
